Hmm…that makes only little sense.
His (supernatural) soldiers could have killed the party without any problem.
Yet he wanted to take them alive…that’s a big no-go on the Evil overlord list.
In fact our particular fool is violating numerous rules on the list…I expect his demise in the coming 2 pages.
As for which rules he’s violating:
Nr. 1: My Legions of Terror will have helmets with clear plexiglass visors, not face-concealing ones.
Nr. 6: I will not gloat over my enemies’ predicament before killing them.
Nr. 10: I will not interrogate my enemies in the inner sanctum — a small hotel well outside my borders will work just as well.
So that’s 3 in the first ten…honestly, don’t villains ever learn? 🙂
Was he now?
That’s interesting…cause from the way he made it sound, the wizard had no knowledge (not that the wizard would tell him about his plans) about the nosy children, which is why he sent a note in the first place.
I mean, why send a note if the person you send the note to already knows about what you want to tell him?
I’m probably just nitpicking here, but from where I am standing (not knowing the script and all), he has little reason to bring them in alive, when slaying them and selling the medallions to the wizard in question would have been much less of a hassle for him.
Regarding the ‘ordered to bring them in alive’…well, that’s another interesting thing.
Cause that suggests, that he still requires the party for something…well, probably mostly Sasha, but that’s beside the point.
It could well be because of Sasha’s natural aptitude of finding the medallions (and her ability to handle it)…or he might require a sacrifice of some sort and magic users like Sasha have become rare and hard to come by.
Really, that’s the only plausible reason why he would violate number 80 so blatantly. (If my weakest troops fail to eliminate a hero, I will send out my best troops instead of wasting time with progressively stronger ones as he gets closer and closer to my fortress.)
I agree on your first point (and have said so on previous pages as well).
It is highly likely that this bird is the queen…the queen he requires to be alive and nearby for some reason.
However I disagree on the second point.
He has no reason to lie to the party at this point, meaning that it’s rather likely, that he did, in fact, give the medallion to the wizard, who, in turn, made the queen ‘disappear’.
Unlike the last medallion keeper (Envy if memory serves), this guy doesn’t seem to have any aptitude towards magic, so he wouldn’t have been able to utilize the power of the artifact anyway.
So yeah, if I’m correct, that guy’s been giving those ‘Sand guard golems’ (for the lack of a better term) to ‘secure the throne’…however they will likely only serve him for as long as he keeps the bird around.
As for why is simple: The wizard added this little extra as punishment for trying to extort a favor from him. (Or just because he’s a dick)
If by rewarded you mean have your world destroyed then yes…

he brought them in alive because that’s what he was ordered to do by his boss/benefactor, but on your other points, I agree, he IS an idiot.
