If you follow me on Twitter, you probably already know that I had a baby on October 18th, four weeks earlier than expected. That compounded an already messed up schedule, which was due to some other projects that were dragging on in September and not having any sort of buffer in place and generally just being exhausted and pregnant for the first half of October. So the comic hasn't updated since September 10th.
But, I'm not abandoning it! We will return in November! Little by little I'm finding my parental rhythm and finding time every day to sit down and get some drawing done.
The plan is to finish out Chapter 16, and assemble PDFs for Volume 1 (chapters 1-8) and Volume 2 (chapters 9-16), and put them up for sale/download on Gumroad or some other similar site. Then a short break to work on the script for Chapter 17 and so on and so forth.

So I guess it’s either a teleportation or an illusion spell, but not a (selective) barrier.
Seeing how that place is supposed to be in ruins, I’m opting more along the lines of teleportation spell, the real castle of our dear friend being somewhere else entirely.
Either that, or she’s powerful enough to rebuild an entire castle with her magic alone (seeing how she probably didn’t manage to sluice tons of building material and carpenters and stuff through the area without anyone in the nearby village noticing).
I guess she live here for some generations so she had not too much work hide in illusion if there was no frequent visitors before. And if you look on that scary story while they was on way to the town… I think there was mention “my grandma heard …”
