Okay, I’ll give the (probably evil) wizard the benefit of the doubt and say that he just took the king’s voice to not be interrupted.
I’m also guessing, that he didn’t just kill the king, because he wants answers…and by answers I mean names, faces, destinations.
And probably Sasha’s head on a platter.
But the big question remains…who is he and why would he wish to make an entire country miserable? Oh wait…he’s just a bully with magic powers, isn’t it? To make himself feel better, he needs to see other people be more miserable than he is.
