I agree with the criticism. A giant serpent is kinda a bit of a letdown. Though it does remind me of that one song I was taught way back in secondary school.
The snake called Serpentina threatened for weeks to come,

Also the letdown was kind of on purpose. Also this is a story that has been passed down many years, so maybe some details get fudged a little with each retelling 😉
Well, to be fair here, I am from Germany and we learned the song in German, so the chances of you knowing it were somewhat low. But you never know, am I right? 🙂
And yeah…you don’t even need generations for that to happen.
